The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A rectangular rubble stone building whose blocked up openings are evidence of numerous changes. The gable overlooking the stream is surmounted by a semi-circular arched bellcote, below which is a flat-arched window now blocked with stone, while the gable at the other end surmounted by a chimney has three such windows now blocked, and a large doorway with a concrete beam cut into it at ground level. There are three modern windows on the elevation facing the road.
SETTING: The building stands next to the bridge (HB06/03/018) at the centre of a small hamlet in a rural location, with one gable overlooking a stream and its main elevation facing the road.
Historical information
Appears on the first OS map of 1833 and may be dated to the eighteenth century.

Evaluation
An eighteenth century industrial building whose few original features and rustic charm are now outweighed by the effects of unsympathetic later changes.
