Exterior description and setting

A two-storey gabled house with rendered walls and slated roof. Main entrance faces north.

Entrance elevation: roof of Bangor blue slates in regular courses; wall is smooth cement rendered with raised quoins to extremities, raised plinth, raised platbands, and projecting eaves course. Cast iron gutter and downpipe. Windows are rectangular timber sliding sash, vertically hung, 1 over 1, with horns, each set in moulded stucco surrounds with a key-block; projecting cill. Doorway contains a rectangular timber 4-panel door set in a similar surround.

Side elevation to west: two-storey gable to left with lean-to two-storey extension to right, all dry-dashed with crushed blackstone and limestone chippings in mid-1950s. Main gable has smooth cement rendered chimney to apex; two terracotta pots, not original; one small window to attic, timber casement; one small window to first floor, similar: two windows to ground floor, rectangular timber fixed light with casement, to right, with small timber fixed light to left. To extreme left-hand side a small later single storey lean-to store with smooth rendered and painted walls and concrete slab roof; ledged door to right-hand side, small window opening to left-hand side, facing road, blocked up with wood; 20th century in date and of poor quality.. Extension to right of main gable has one window to first floor, timber fixed light with top-hung vent, with door below, panelled and glazed with translucent glass; timber fascia to roofline; all mid-20th century.

Rear elevation of house, facing south: roof of Bangor blue slates in regular courses, with red ridge tiles, contained by cement gable coping to left; smooth rendered blank rear wall to two-storey projection from back of original house, extending almost to back boundary; wooden fascia; PVC gutter and downpipe.

SETTING: The building stands within the built-up area of the village, at the end of a short terrace of three houses, facing on to a narrow side road, with other domestic properties immediately opposite. The front faces directly on to the road.
Small grassed garden and concrete area to side of house. Boundary wall to road of rubble with cement face to road, and cement coping; rendered gate piers with ball finials of cement; wooden gates of timber trellis-work on sturdy frame. A new cylindrical electricity pole of large diameter stands in a corner of the garden.

Precise date of building not known but it appears on the OS map of 1857.
