The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Two storey three bay rendered house in the Georgian style facing east onto Irish Green Street. Flat roofed extension across full width of roof with three casement windows sub-divided in the Georgian manner aligning with those below. Rendered chimney to south end of former ridge, brick to north. Twelve pane sliding sash windows to ground and first floors with painted brick cills. Door with rectangular fanlight aligning with windows at northern end of facade. Cobweb pattern to closely spaced astragals of fanlight. Panelled stained door seems to be a modern replacement. Door flanked by thin Tuscan pilasters in sand cement supporting a projecting entablature above. Cement threshold step extends 500mm approximately out onto the pavement.
To the rear a flat roofed two storey return extends from the house at an awkward angle due to the plot boundary. The flat roofed extension into the roof space re-occurs and windows are all modern timber casement. A white washed brick stable joined to that of number 57 sits behind the house.
Historical information
House is first indicated on the 1848 Ordnance Survey Map. In the 1858 Griffiths Valuation it had a value of £8. The intricate detail of the fanlight suggests an earlier construction date. The building has been in continuous occupation as a dwelling

Evaluation
Victorian terrace house with some detail surviving to front elevation. Grossly inappropriate rooftop extension and modern extensions and alterations to rear remove justification for listing.
