The Department's description

Exterior description and setting

The former lodge has been demolished and has been replaced by a new house. It was described in the 1st Building Survey as “A lodge with harled whitened walls and hipped slated roof. Windows and entrance are set in almost semi-circular arched recesses. The sheeted door is surmounted by a two centre arched fanlight with curved astragals, flanked either side by a double hung window with full glazing bars and head identical to fanlight. The building is at present unoccupied and semi-derelict”.

Historical information

It is shown on Co Londonderry O.S. map Sheet 25 parallel and close to the Ballyquin Road. An avenue or laneway continued by it presumably to other estate lands of Pellipar House.

The replacement house is the residence of Mr Brian McCloskey and replacement probably occurred c1980s.
