The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape. It is shown as a windmill in use on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This is a cylindrical tower (ext. diam. 4.85m; int. diam. 3m) surviving almost complete (H 5.3m). There are opposing doorways at E (Wth 0.66m; H 1.54m) and W, but the W one is blocked. Projecting steps on the inner face of the wall at S lead from the W doorway to the second floor. There is a bottle-shaped recess (Wth 1.36m; H 2.85m; D 0.4m) in the inner face of the wall at N on the ground floor rising to the first that would allow flour sacks to expand into it. Narrow windows at NW and S light the first floor and the joists of this floor are set into the wall at E and W. The second floor has lights at NE and SW and its floor is supported on a rebate.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
