The National Monuments Service's description
A windmill is shown as operational on 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and it is situated on a rise in an undulating landscape. This is a conical tower of three or four storeys (H c. 8m) with all the machinery intact, although it has probably been reduced in height and is not the original structure. This windmill is known locally to have been built in 1883 and functioned with a diesel engine until 1964. There is a complete corn drying kiln attached.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
