The National Monuments Service's description

Described as the site of a Castle on the 1839 and 1925 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a fairly level landscape. It is a slightly sunken area, where a maul and part of a stone window frame were found. It is visible as a rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 40m NE-SW; c. 30m NW-SE) defined by a wide fosse or moat feature on aerial photographs (ASIAP: WX 73, 5-7; MM (8) 33- 7). It is also visible on the OSI series of earial photographs (2000, 2005).
