The National Monuments Service's description

Described as the 'site of Templeboy' within a small faintly-marked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30-35m) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6 inch map, and situated on a slight SE-facing slope. There are no visible remains of a structure, burial or enclosure at ground level in a grass and scrub-covered area. Battlestown was part of the estate of Dunbrody Abbey (WX039-030001-) (Colfer 2002, Fig. 79), and the church probably served as a chapel for the community at Balltestown castle site (WX045-025----) c. 700m to the E.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
