The National Monuments Service's description

Archaeological monitoring (01E0047) of topsoil stripping on a development site c. 750m W of the South Slob of Wexford harbour identified several areas of archaeological activity (Elder 2003), each of which was fully excavated (02E0606). This is site 4/5 and consisted of a penannular ring-ditch (diam. 9m N-S; 8.5m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 0.5-0.75m; D 0.2-0.5m), with bulbous terminals and an entrance gap (Wth 1.7m) at SW. There were no internal features, but 60 sherds of pottery, some with cord impressed decoration in the Beaker tradtion, were recovered from the fosse. Fragments of a Food Vessel were recovered from a pit (dims 1.55m x 0.6-0.95m) c. 7m to the NE, but there was no evidence of a burial.
About 20m to the NE a group of nine features inculding small pits, some inter-cutting (dims c. 0.2m to 0.6-0.8m; D 0.06-0.16m), produced lithics of a Neolithic type, and this is confimed by fragments of shell that produced a C14 date of 3810-3650 cal. BC. Two E-W gullies (Wth 0.7-0.9m; excavated L 16m; max. D 0.55m: Wth 1.15m; excavated L 17m; D 0.4m) have a staggered junction separated by a gap (Wth 3.2m). They respect the ring-ditch, lying just to its S, and may be prehistoric. The prehistoric pits (WX042-091----) are c. 90m to the S and the hut-site at Strandfield (WX042-097----) is c. 150m to the NE. (McLoughlin 2004; McLoughlin 2007, 13-17).
