The National Monuments Service's description

Archaeological monitoring (01E0047) of topsoil stripping on a development site c. 750m W of the South Slob of Wexford harbour identified several areas of archaeological activity (Elder 2003), each of which was fully excavated (02E0606). This is site 2 and consisted of a penannular ring-ditch (int. diam. 13.8m; ext. diam. 14.4m) defined by a trench (Wth 0.55-0.6m; D 0.12-0.32m) with an entrance gap (Wth 4.1m) at E. There was a cluster of features at the centre including a cremation burial that produced a C14 date of 390-170 Cal. BC, thirteen dispersed post-holes and stake-holes. A C14 sample from the trench provided a date of 410-10 Cal. BC (McLoughlin 2007, 6-11). The excavated prehistoric pits (WX042-091----) are c. 60m to the N. (McLoughlin 2004; 2007, 6-11; McLoughlin et al. 2012, 161-4)
