The National Monuments Service's description

First identified in centre-line testing (00E0379) for the re-alignment of the N25 Wexford town to New Ross road (Elder and Tierney 2002), and completely excavated (00E0476) subsequently. It is situated on a fairly level landscape. This is an area (dims. c. 8m NW-SE; c. 6m NE-SW) with a number of deposits and some features including a hearth. Some shallow pits contained charcoal in their fills, probably from a hearth and were sealed by re-deposited subsoil that may have formed a work-surface. This was overlaid by layers of charcoal-rich clays with medieval ceramics and further more sterile clays to renew the surface more than once. A shallow pit (diam. 1.4m) 5m to the NE with charcoal in its upper fill is interpreted as a hearth, with a collection of stake-holes in its vicinity. (Noonan 2002; Noonan and Johnston 2006)
