The National Monuments Service's description

First identified in centre-line testing (00E0379) for the re-alignment of the N25 Wexford town to New Ross road (Elder and Tierney 2002), and fully excavated (00E0417) subsequently. It is located on a steep SE-facing slope. An oval bowl (dims. 3.7m N-S; 2.7m E-W; D 0.52m) had a flat base and the sides were lined with stones. The flue (L 2m) extended to the SW, but its further end had been truncated. An arc of a trench (L c. 6m) c. 2m upslope to the N is interpreted as preventing water run-off from reaching the kiln. It produced a C14 date of Cal AD 1460-1660 (Tierney 2006, 32). (Tierney 2002)
