The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a col between Camlin Hill c. 400m NW and an E-W spur of Ballylane Hill that rises to the E of the col. Centre-line testing (E4067) in advance of the N25 New Ross by-pass identified an oval charcoal-production pit (Doyle et al. 2010, 35). It was set aside for resolution as Camlin 7 and was completely excavated (E4105) when it proved to be a subcircular pit (diam. 1.7-1.8m; D 0.28m) with two fills of clay and sandy silts with charcoal inclusions, the lower of which produced a calibrated C14 date of AD 1020-1160 (Eogan and Kelly 2016, 234). A NW-SE field bank with two ditches was c. 4m to the SW and these produced medieval and post-medieval pottery. (Clark and Hackett 2010a; Hackett 2013)
