The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a SW-facing slope c. 300m SW of a col between Camlin Hill c. 400m NW of the col and an E-W spur of Ballylane Hill that rises to the E of the col. Centre-line testing (E4067) in advance of the N25 New Ross by-pass identified an oval charcoal-production pit (dims. 3.2m E-W; 1.35m N-S; D 0.14m) with a fill of brown sandy clay that had charcoal inclusions. A small pit (diam. 0.3m; D 0.1m) filled with brown sandy clay and some charcoal was 11m to the SW but it may be unrelated. The charcoal-pit is set aside for resolution as Camlin 6, but no further work seems to have been conducted at it. (Doyle et al. 2010, 35)
