The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the bottom of a N-facing slope just above the junction with the flood-plain of the N-S River Barrow/Nore, which is running E-W c. 600m to the N. Centre-line testing (E4067) in advance of the N25 New Ross by-pass identified a charcoal-making pit (dims 1.95m ENE-WSW; 1.35m NNW-SSE; D 0.2m) filled with a dark brown silty clay dug into oxidised subsoil (Doyle et al. 2010, 29). It was set aside for resolution as Landscape 1 and completely excavated (E4107) when a small pit (dims 0.84m x 0.5m; D 0.08-0.14m) was found in the vicinity. No artefacts were recovered. (Clark and Hession 2010; Hession 2013)
