The National Monuments Service's description
From: O’Mahony, A. (1987, 15, No. 4) This tomb (Wth 0.68m; H 2.1m; T 0.14m) is attached to the outside of the west wall of the South Transept. There is a foliate cross in the centre and an inscription along the edge of three sides of the stone. It reads:
Hic. Jacet. Patricius. conwye. quod. burgensis. ville. nove. Rossi qui obijt: xvij: ie. mes. maii A (o) dni. 1587. Katherina Archer uxor e. q-e obijt blank*
(Here lie Patrick Conwye, formerly burgess of the town of New Ross, who died on the 17th day of the month of May, in the year of Our Lord 1587, Katherina Archer his wife who died ).
Interestingly, the stonemason frequently failed to fill in the blank space loft for the date of the wife’s death.
