The National Monuments Service's description

Identified in centre-line testing (E4110) in advance of the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy road scheme and set aside for resolution as a part of Cooladine 1 (Hardy et al. 2010, 6-7). It is situated on an undulating landscape sloping down to the W where a SE-NW section of a small S-N stream is c. 100m to the SW. An extensive area was excavated (E4162) as Cooladine 1 by Y. Whitty when four concentrated areas of activity and two prehistoric phases were recognised. Most of the features are pits and post-holes but a possible Neolithic structure was identified together with a possible Bronze Age hut-site (WX026-083002-).
An intense node of activity consisting of eleven pits and seven post-holes occurred in a confined area (dims c. 10m x c. 10m) at the W edge of the excavated area. No pattern is discernible amongst the post-holes, but they appear to be structural. The pits contained a large quantity of Neolithic pottery and many of the sherds are crudely-made wasters, suggesting the proximity of pottery kilns. The possible Bronze Age hut-site (WX026-083002-) is c. 50m to the SSE, and the hearth (WX026-084----) is c. 180m to the NNW. (Hardy and Rajic 2012, 8-10; Whitty 2013)
