The National Monuments Service's description
Identified in centre-line testing (E4110) in advance of the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy road scheme and set aside for resolution as Mountgeorge 4 & 5 (Hardy et al. 2010, 53-4), although an oval pit (dims 1.4m x 1.2m; D 0.15m) and a burnt stone spread (dims 2m x 0.5m; T 0.15m) had already been dug. It is situated on level ground at the bottom of a NW-facing slope with a small NE-SW stream c. 100m to the NW. It was excavated (E4197) by M. McNamara as four discrete but disturbed spreads of burnt stone (dims 2m x 1.4m; T 0.13m: 2.12m x 1.2m; T 0.06m: 2.6m x 1.2m; T 0.07m: 9m x 6.5m; T 0.15m) which were associated with a subcircular trough (diam. 1.66-1.88m; D 0.44m), and an oval pit (dims 1.2m x 1-1.1m; D 0.2-0.32m) was c. 18m to the E. A sample from the trough produced a C14 date of Cal. BC 2136-1964. Fulacht fia (WX016-054----) is c. 30m to the NW, and the unrelated holy well (WX016-060001-) is c. 50m to the ESE. (Hardy and Ruttle 2012; McNamara 2013)
