The National Monuments Service's description
Archaeological testing (12E0306) in an area of c. 7 ha (c. 18acres) c. 250m WSW of the core of Gorey town (WX007-033----) identified and excavated two fulachta fia, three burnt mounds, a spit and a corn-drying kiln. This burnt mound (visible dims 8.2m WNW-ESE; 5m NNE-SSW; max. T 0.42m) in Area G was on the NE side of a small E-W stream or drain and 72m E of fulacht fia (WX007-085002-). Two layers containing burnt stone were partially excavated, but no features were recorded. A sample from the lower layer produced a C14 date of 2280-2035 Cal. BC. The unexcavated portion of this monument is preserved beneath an access road.
