The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a fulacht fia only on the 1940 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and situated in a fold of a S-facing slope with the headwaters of a N-S stream immediately to the E. It was described in 1940 as a scarp of a mound of charred stone and black earth emerging out of the slope (dim c. 15m NW-SE; c. 9m NE-SW; H c. 1.2m) at E) (OSFM). It was not visible in 1987 at ground level in pasture, but there is a local memory of black earth and cracked stones being visible when the area was reclaimed c. 1960.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
