The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a wooded enclosure on the 1839 (diam. c. 70m) and 1940 (diam. c. 60m) eds of the OS 6-inch map. Situated on a slight rise on a steep NW-facing slope of the Bann River valley with the N-S stream c. 350m to the W. It was described in 1956 as a subcircular wooded area (dims. c. 66m E-W; c. 60m N-S) defined by a stone-revetted scarp (H 1.5m at W to 0.9m at N) W-N with a low bank E-S, and farm buildings on the perimeter S-W (SMR file). Fram buildings and spoil obscure most of the site, except for a portion of original scarp at N (C 26m; H 2m).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
