Barrow - ring-barrow

The National Monuments Service's description

Surveyed in 2013 and described by McGuinness (2014, 38-9) as following: 'This heavily overgrown barrow was examined and described for the ASI in 1973: A small circular mound, now slightly disturbed & with a depression on top, surrounded by a fosse & with a good bank of earth & stone outside it. The whole monument is covered with furze and briars, making inspection difficult. The diam of the earthwork is approx 26m. The barrow is situated on a ridge with good views of the surrounding countryside, which is fairly well drained pasture land. [SMR file] From this description the monument, with a small mound and substantial bank, appears to be a ringbarrow rather than a bowl-barrow with external bank. The depression on top of mound possibly indicates that it has been ransacked by treasurehunters'.
