The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a rise, in a scrubby area of pasture, with commanding views of the surrounding landscape. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as an oval-shaped enclosure surrounding ‘Creeve Castle’ (WM030-00900--) in the form of an earthen bawn or bailey. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as an oval-shaped earthwork containing ‘Creeve Castle (in Ruins)’.
Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 34m) defined by a low bank which is almost reduced to a scarp. The interior has a S-facing slope and is cut by a modern field boundary across the E quadrant. The remains of Creeve Castle (WM030-009001-) are visible n the N quadrant. A souterrain (WM030-009003-) is visible in the S quadrant and the bank of the earthwork has been disturbed at S, where a large lintel can be seen projecting from the bank. Monument is visible today as an area of scrub on Digital Globe aerial photography.
