The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on reclaimed grassland, c. 170m to SE of the Royal Canal. Not depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map or the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. Identified by aerial photography in 1973 as a series of four oblong, roughly rectangular-shaped mounds and three roughly square-shaped mounds which are visible inside a large oval-shaped enclosure (WM018-005001-) (AP taken October 1973).
Described in 1983 as a long, low roughly rectangular-shaped mound and enclosure. There are some humps and hollows near it. It is possible that these features are the result of quarrying and earth removal. Some of it may also represent the dumping of debris from the construction or drainage of the canal. There is nothing to indicate that it is a burial mound or any other archaeological feature. Monument is visible today on Digital Globe aerial photography as three roughly square-shaped mounds (approx. max. dims. 12m NW-SE; 10m NE-SW) closely arranged off-centre to SE within enclosure (WM018-005001-) and four oblong, roughly rectangular-shaped mounds (approx. max. dims. 28m NW-SE; 12m NE-SW) to SW, NW, N and E, also within the enclosure.
