The National Monuments Service's description

The townland boundary running NW-SE between Monroe and Wattstown consists of an earth and stone bank (max. H 1.5m; max. Wth 3m) with a deep fosse (max. W 2m) on the NE side, and a narrower fosse on the SW side. A pencil note marked on OS map in paper file suggests that this stretch of townland boundary may have formed part of the Iron Age linear earthwork known as the 'Black Pig's Dyke'. The townland boundary runs past a group of barrows (WM011-132----/133----/160----) standing on top of Frewin Hill located 50m to NNE. The present townland boundary has a modern appearance and bears no resemblance morphologically with the 'Duncla' or 'Black Pig's Dyke' depicted on the OS 6-inch maps in Co. Longford (LF006-066----). There is no evidence to suggest that this townland boundary formed part of the linear earthwork known as the Black Pig's Dyke'.
