Situated on a broad gentle rise surrounded by low-lying wet ground. Depicted on the 1837 OF Fair Plan as a sub-circular shaped enclosure annotated as a ‘fort’. Depicted as a circular shaped enclosure on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. Partially hachured on the revised 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map where only the W half of the monument remained upstanding.
