The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on top of a slight natural rise on the landscaped demesne lands of Barbavilla House located 290m to SSE. Possible ringfort that was converted into a landscaped tree-ring associated with Barbavilla House. Not depicted as an antiquity on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map which may suggest that this earthwork is a post-1700 tree-ring rather than a ringfort. On the 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map a pathway to Barbavilla House is shown running through the W quadrant of the earthwork. On the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map this pathway is annotated as 'Vista Lawn' connecting Barbavilla House to the public road.
Present remains consist of a sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 32m N-S; 27m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank and slight external fosse. The bank has been disturbed, and the fosse is only visible at N. There is an entrance gap (Wth 2m) at SE. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running NNE-SSW across the interior. The monument has been planted with trees.
