The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a gentle N-facing slope immediately S of a church (WI040-011002-) and graveyard (WI040-011003-). Circular enclosure (diam. 38m) defined by a degraded earthen bank (Wth 11m; H 0.5-1.4m). No indication of an external fosse, entrance or internal features.
The Ordnance Survey Letters of 1839 described the following; ‘It appears from some vestiges on the ground that there was a fort to the S. West of the old church, and an old hut a short distance from it’ (O'Flanagan 1928, 128-9). Outline of levelled monument visible on Digital Globe aerial photograph taken November 2011. Levelled enclosure possibly a ringfort visible as a low rise of ground in field to S of church and graveyard. No other features visible.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
