The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a gentle S-facing slope. A castle and a rectangular enclosure (WI039-013001-) marked on the first edition OS 6-inch map. According to Price (1936, 52) the field was known locally as the 'castle field', although it was not clear what family may have owned the castle. Not visible at ground level.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
