The National Monuments Service's description
Described in Grogan and Kilfeather (1997, 81, no. 495) as 'Situated on a gentle NE-facing slope. Cropmark of a solid circular area (diam. c. 15m) situated immediately to the W of a possible enclosure (WI013-006002-). Visible on aerial photograph (CUCAP, BGE 83). Not visible at ground level.'
Subsequent archaeological excavation (Licence No. 04E0744) revealed a large burnt mound which sealed 11 troughs and a number of pits, post-holes and gullies. A charcoal sample from one of the troughs produced a radiocarbon date of 1710-1690 cal. BC. A palisade trench (WI013-006002-) was located to the S and E and this priduced a date of 1400-1120 cal. BC. (Molloy 2007, 10-15)
