The National Monuments Service's description
Kindlestown Castle (WI008-017----) originally stood in a large rectangular ditched enclosure (52m E-W; 18m N-S) which was still visible in 1990 (SMR file). Simpson (2003, 419) noted that 'only traces of the northern section of the moat are now visible, located 6.5m from the castle. This moat, marked by a shallow depression and nettles, measures 6m wide by at least 1m in depth.'
