The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a very gentle W-facing slope in a marshy area. No surface remains visible, slightly raised ground (H c. 0.3m) in area where ‘Site of Castle’ is marked on Ordnance Survey maps. Levelled castle location indicated as a narrow rectangular area in dotted outline on 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map.
Please note that the description published in the 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997) for this monument, Inventory No. 1997, p. 185, refers in error to Oldcourt Castle in Bray (WI008-002----), Co. Wicklow.
The National Monuments Service is indebted to Mr Peter Halligan for drawing this error to our attention.
