The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in a coniferous plantation on a slight rise in the floodplain of the Blackwater River, and marked as a copse (diam. c. 85m) on the 1840 and 1927 eds of the OS 6-inch map. This is a circular area (diam. 45m) defined by a slight scarp (H 0.2m) separated from an outer fosse (at SW: Wth of top 7m; Wth of base 2m; int. D 1.1m; ext. D 0.9m) by a berm (Wth 10m). There is a modern entrance causeway at N.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
