The National Monuments Service's description

Recorded as a 'Danish fort' on a 1773 Scalé map (NLI: ms. 7217, 4), and marked faintly as a rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 50m N-S; c. 35m E-W) on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Situated on a gentle N-facing slope. This is a D-shaped, grass-covered area (dims. 60m N-S; 43m E-W) defined by a scarp (max. H 0.7m) except at SE-SW where traces of a fosse (Wth 10m; D 0.3m) are evident. The perimeter is slightly curtailed by a N-S field bank at W. In 2020 a souterrain (WA029-002001-) was identified in the N quadrant of the ringfort.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
