The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the crest of a W-facing slope at the E edge of the valley of the S-N Ballymoat stream, with the stream c. 280m to the W. Identified in centre-line testing (05E0763) of the alternate route of the N25 Waterford city bypass (Russell 2008b), and excavated completely (E3447) as Bawnfune 1 during 2007 by R. O'Hara (2009e). A circle of nine or ten post-holes (dima. c. 5m) was excavated, and a charcoal sample for C14 dating was recovered, but there were no artefacts. (O'Hara 2010i; O'Hara and Ginn 2011a)
