The National Monuments Service's description

Excavation by S. Stevens at Exchange St./High St. in 1984-5 exposed 17th-century features including a laneway, a courtyard with a well, ovens and a drainage system. Earlier material dating from the 12th to the 14th centuries, mainly comprising pits, trackways and hearths, was also uncovered (Stevens 1985a, 1985b; Youngs et al. 1985, 218-19).
