The National Monuments Service's description

The remains of a medieval house on Coffee House Lane consisting of fragments of the side walls and S gable (int. dims. c. 13.8m N-S; 4.65m E-W) were recorded by A. Gittins (93E0058; 1994). Original features include a doorway in the S wall and fragments of a window in the W wall. There was an inserted fireplace (now located in the Hostel on Coffee House Lane) with an oak mantle at first-floor level in the W wall. Further excavations in the vicinity (93E0133) revealed post-medieval houses and a passage, and the remains of hearths and floors suggest that medieval houses fronted on to Greyfriars St (Wren 1994).
