The National Monuments Service's description
On a SW-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. The church is not visible at ground level. In the immediate vicinity of the church there are a lot of undulations in the field. Ó Cearbhaill (2007, 54) discusses the derivation of the placename Kilballygorman, which seems to apply to the church at Gormanstown. According to the OS Namebooks (O'Donovan 1840), 'part of the centre gable' was standing in c. 1840 with a 'font' lying beside it. This 'font' or bullaun stone (TS087-046----) is presently located in the grounds of the adjacent 'Model Farm' house.
