The National Monuments Service's description
On ground sloping gently to S, in gently undulating terrain, under pasture. No visible trace of houses above ground, though visible as cropmarks on an aerial photograph (GSI May 1977 R. 594/S. 691). House partially excavated (Excavation number E00455) in 1987-1991 (Doody 2007, 24-26, Structure 5). The E portion of this house was excavated and it is likely to have been circular (estimated diam. c. 5m) (ibid. 25). It is defined by intermittent foundation trenches and post-holes and an inner ring of post-holes concentric with the outer slot foundation trench may represent roof supports (ibid.). A gap (Wth 1m) between the foundation trench and a post-hole may represent an E-facing entrance (ibid.). Internal features included three stake-holes, possibly some form of internal fitting and a post-hole (ibid.). A radiocarbon date from charcoal in a post-pit provided a date of 2850+/-35BP; 1050-947 cal. BC. An irregularly-shaped pit (dims. 1.7m x 0.78m; D 0.45m), filled with silt and large stones, was immediately E of the entance, function unknown (ibid. 26). House (TS087-007003-) and house (TS087-007005-) are located c. 3m to N and adjacent to the SE respectively.
