The National Monuments Service's description

On the W side of the town, N of Main Street. The medieval church of St. Nicholas of Myra (TS085-004006-) appears to have survived until c. 1813 when it was demolished and replaced by a C of I church (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 63). Incorporated in the internal face of the W end of the S boundary wall is a fragment of the upper portion of a graveslab (dims. 0.78m x 0.6m). It is decorated with an I.H.S. motif, the I and S are decorated with interlace and there is a cross rising from the bar of the H. This four armed cross has trefoil terminals and rises from a curving calvary mount. On the dexter side is a sun with a crescent moon on the sinister side. Raised marginal inscription in plain latin script reads: 'HIC JACET GUALTERUS SEIX DE CAR…' and ends '... RINABU ILERQUAE'. Inscribed on the interior are some more letters and a date of either 1640 or 1641. (Farrelly and FitzPatrick 1993).
