On the W side of the town, N of Main Street. The medieval church of St. Nicholas of Myra appears to have survived until c. 1813 when it was demolished and replaced by a Protestant church (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 63). The church is currently serving as a tourist office and heritage centre. There is no trace of the earlier building above ground, but there are a number of whole and fragmentary late medieval graveslabs in the graveyard, ten of which (TS085-004017 - TS085-004026-) have been incorporated into the internal face of a new boundary wall at W and SW of the graveyard. There are three intact slabs (TS085-004027-;TS085-004028-;TS085-004029-) immediately NW of the church and one (TS085-004030-) in the burial area to the S. In addition to those housed in the boundary wall there is a limestone window head (TS085-004015-) incorporated into the W kerb wall which forms part of the avenue entrance to the church. A late 17th-century wall monument (TS085-004040-), formerly within the church, has been moved to the C of I church at Clonagam near Portlaw, Co. Waterford.
