The National Monuments Service's description
On S side of Parnell St., on the location of or incorporated within the present Town Hall. Formerly the location of a late 17th-century mansion built by Richard Hamerton (Shee and Watson 1975, 38). In the 18th century the building was converted into the 'Great Globe Inn' which is depicted in 1826 as a five-bay, two-storey building with four attic windows and two centrally placed diagonally set chimneys (Pyke 1984, 30). In 1881 it was rebuilt as the Town Hall (Shee and Watson 1975, 38). (Farrelly and FitzPatrick 1993, 78).
