The National Monuments Service's description
On a spur on a S-facing slope in rolling pastureland. According to the landowner a 'fort' in Waterford was visible to the SE but is now obscured by hedgerow, this is probably a ringfort (WA001-002----) in Kilnamack East c. 2.5km to the SE. A sub-rectangular area (31.5m N-S; c. 30m E-W) enclosed by scarp. The E quadrant was defined by a field boundary on the 1904-5 ed. OS 6-inch map, but this has been levelled subsequently. The N quadrant was also defined by a field boundary on the 1904-5 map, this appears to have been replaced by a post and wire fence with new planting along it. The S and W quadrants are defined by scarp (H 0.92m), this appears to have been somewhat truncated by a trackway which skirts around both quadrants. With two quadrants effectively missing, the original shape is difficult to determine, however, based on its present condition and its designation as a long, oval enclosure on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map, sub-rectangular appears to describe it best. The interior is fairly level, on a natural platform. The scarp on the S and W sectors is surmounted by post and wire fencing.
