In level terrain with pasture to W. Houses to N and S. Public road running N-S passes the S quadrant. Ringfort relatively clean though there are a lot of brambles in SW quadrant, scrub and trees growing around edge. Townland boundary runs concentrically with the SE quadrant, it forms a high earthen bank (H 1.77m) while it runs by the monument, then reduces in size. The area between the ringfort and the townland boundary, formerly the fosse, has been used as a laneway (Wth 3.35m) with circular stone piers and gate to the public road. Ringfort (diam. 43.5m N-S; c. 33.7m E-W, latter partially obstructed by brambles) enclosed by a bank (Wth 1.6m crest, 3.8m base; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 1.58m), best preserved in the W quadrant, and flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 3.3m; D 0.8m), only visible in the W quadrant. Some dumping and burning in fosse in NW quadrant. The fosse terminates in the SW sector with a slight causeway which is probably related to the later laneway. A limited excavation consisting of two trenches up to 10m beyond the fosse of the ringfort found nothing of archaeological significance (Moran 1996, 20).
