The National Monuments Service's description
Set within a chamfered recess on the W face of the most easterly pier on the N side of the aisle of the medieval parish church of St John the Baptist (TS070-040001-), currently Holy Trinity C of I church. The Hackett arms of three hackeds (large pike) hauriant (Crotty 2012, 22; Went 1952, 115) are displayed in relief on a shield within a rectangular plaque (H 0.68m; Wth 0.47m). There is an inscription in latin, in Black Letter script, along the top and bottom of the plaque and the top of the shield which has been transcribed (FitzGerald 1903, vol. 5, 451) as: SCUTUM MAGISTRI REDMONDI HACKET ET EDMONDI FILLII EJUSDEM FABRICATORII ISTIUS ECCLE. Under the hake is the word: HAKET. There is a floral motif in the lower dexter and sinister corner between the shield and the lower inscription.
