The National Monuments Service's description
At the junction of Watergate St. and Burke St. Craig and Garner (1975, 51) noted that the first two houses on the S side have a pie-crust cornice, 'dating them to circa 1700'. There was another building attached to the W gable of the most westerly house which may have been similar (Farrelly and FitzPatrick 1993, 103-04). The easterly house has a slightly higher roof pitch and only portion of the pie-crust cornice has survived intact (ibid.). Both houses have had major internal alterations (ibid.). In Steile's map of 1752 the area occupied by these houses is called 'Old Jerusalem', and 'Jerusalem' also forms part of the description for this area on Grace's map of 1708, though on the latter map only a small building is depicted at this junction (O'Keeffe 2003, map 5 and appendix A; ibid., map 8 and appendix B).
