The National Monuments Service's description
In generally level pasture, on spot height of 451ft. Remains of sub-circular area (dims. 42m N-S; 37m E-W) defined by earthen bank (Wth 6.2m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 1.2m) SE-W-NE and truncated by farmyard NE-E-SE. Bank reduced to scarp WNW-NW where trees have been recently felled to make way for ESB line and pole inserted at NW. Wide intervening fosse (Wth 8.45m; D 1.2m) enclosed by berm (Wth 10m; H 0.7m) which rises from fosse to outer bank. Outer bank (Wth 3.8m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.0m). Fosse, berm and outer bank removed NW-N-NE. Traces of outer fosse (basal Wth 3.25m; Wth7.05m; D 0.2m) SE-S-NW. The interior is generally level, with tall conifers growing in the W sector. There is a causewayed entrance (Wth 5m) through the outer bank and inner bank (Wth 7m) at SW. A linear (long-axis NE-SW) sod-covered wall (L 18m; T 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.25m) flanks the W side of the causeway, across the berm and intervening fosse. There is a hut site (TS069-017001-) located on the NW berm of the enclosure, abutting the interior of the outer bank of same. There is no visible surface trace of the earthwork which is depicted to the N of the concentric enclosure on the latest edition OS 6-inch map. Extant monument and possible earthwork visible on aerial photograph (GSI. S.656/5 16 April 1974).
