The National Monuments Service's description

In undulating terrain on top of a low ridge within Railstown medieval settlement (TS061-126----), roughly mid-way along the western edge of the settlement. A rectangular building (dims. 4.8m N-S; 9.7m E-W), aligned E-W, with an entrance (Wth 1.1m) towards the W end of the N side. It is defined by an earthen bank with stone protruding (int. H 0.5-0.7m; ext. H 0.4m; Wth at top 1.15m; overall Wth 2.1m). The E end of the S bank does not survive, there is a tree growing at the SE angle. The bank forming the E side is very denuded (int. H 0.22m; ext. H 0.15m; Wth at top 0.7m; overall Wth 1.2m). This N side of the building, which may be a house, also forms the N side of a roughly rectangular enclosure or plot (dims. 24.4m N-S; 17.5m E-W), with the remains of a possible building (TS061-126007-) at the S end of the plot.
