The National Monuments Service's description
Adjacent to E of motte (TS068-016---). In very undulating pasture, on high ground above valley, on S-side of River Suir. Identified during field inspection (16/11/2006). Monument appears to utilise naturally undulating land. Irregular-shaped earthwork divided into two distinct parts and tilting downslope to WSW. Eastern portion is a raised earthen platform, roughly rectangular in plan (dims. c. 18m NE-SW; 7m NW-SE). Defined by steep scarp (Wth 6m; H 2.35m) to NW, scarp (Wth 5m; H 0.85m) to SW and shallow scarp (Wth 2m; H 0.55m) to SE; appears to continue to NE, but not visible due to dense growth of bushes. Western portion is a similar raised earthen platform, sub-rectangular in plan (dims. c. 6m N-S; c. 13m E-W) defined by steep scarp to NW and shallower scarp (Wth 3.5m; H 0.35m) to NE and similar to SE and SW. Gap (Wth 8.5m) almost like an entrance, divides the two sides of the earthwork. This is a probable entrance feature associated with motte (TS068-016---). Reasonable views to Athassel Abbey (TS068-013---) c. 200m to NE on opposite side of River Suir.
