The National Monuments Service's description

Near the N wall of the southern side chapel in the N transept of the cathedral (TS061-0250003-) on the Rock of Cashel. A rectangular slab (L 2.1m; Wth 0.71m; T 0.13m) which is lying on its dexter side, incorporated as a side panel in a modern chest tomb arrangement against the N wall. It is two cracks across the face in the centre and the lower dexter side and base are missing. The decoration is described by Maher (1997, 70) as consisting of 'a seven-armed segmental cross in relief, with each arm terminating in a fleur-de-lis. Three cross-bands occur at the base of the cross-head surmounting the cross-shaft. A similar feature occurs at the base of the shaft surmounting an elaborate pillar-base form. An interlocked pair of rectangular forms, open at the base, occupy the centre of the slab. A Black Letter inscription occurs along the sinister and dexter edges and on the cross base. It was transcribed by Fitzgerald (1903, 447) as follows: HIC JACENT PATRICI' CONNOLLIE BURGENSIS VILLE DE CASSELL ET JOHANA/WALE/EIUS UXOR QUE OBIIT DECIO DIE MENS'.... ANO 1506 PATRI' / OBIIT / _ DIE MES' _ A DNI _ and translated by Maher (1997, 70) as, 'Here lies Patrick Connolly burgess of th town of Cashel and Joanna Wale his wife, who died on the 10th day of the month of _ the year 1506. Patrick .... died _ day, month of _ A. D. _ '.
